Those safari lodges offer kid clubs and activities to make the young ones feel at home, providing welcome packs, kid-approved menus, baking lessons, board games, arts and crafts, and – of course – African bedtime stories. Those activities are often themed around wilderness and wildlife, teaching them a love for nature and the environment. The programmes are often split into age groups, so that teens aren’t placed at the proverbial “kids table”.
Some safari lodges also offer childminders, who’ll take care of young children while the adults and teens are out on safari game drives (or while the adults are enjoying a quiet night together). A few also offer shorter game drives and safari walks so that the whole family can enjoy the safari experience without the kids getting restless.
