Like the dazzling night sky stars and the burning midday sun, Madikwe and Jaci’s spirit shines brightly. This is a truly beautiful place and I had a wonderful time.

Family and Children
Jaci and Jan raised their three young children while establishing Jaci’s Lodges, and so children have always been well catered for and accommodated. We are very proud to call ourselves a family friendly lodge.
Seeing the wonder in your child’s eyes as they see a lion for the first time, or how they enjoy learning why a kudu has such large ears, is a truly rewarding experience. Sharing moments like these is one of the great joys of parenting, that is why we arrange family game drives.
The game guides of Madikwe like to focus on the “Top Ten” rather than the Big Five. So, in addition to the well-known lion, buffalo, leopard, elephant and rhino, families have great chances of seeing hippo, giraffe, wild dog, hyena and cheetah.
These game drives are educational, informative and deliberately shorter, to keep younger children engaged. Children aged four years and under are specially accommodated with their own “jungle drive”.
Other entertainment options are on offer, including a games room and swimming pools, and child minders are on hand for parents who want to enjoy a more private game drive or dinner.
Our chefs can also cater to your child’s likes and dislikes, whether those be spaghetti bolognaise, hot dogs, or hamburgers. We like to serve our young guests the things they think are delicious, although we do make sure to serve them vegetables and salad. An earlier evening meal is provided for all children 12 years and younger, as they are not allowed into the boma during dinner. Child minders are arranged at this time.
Madikwe is one of the only malaria-free game reserves in the country and so is the natural choice for parents wanting to expose their children to the African bush, without exposing them to the risk of malaria.
