10 May 2013 - Eind april verbleven mijn man en ik 3 nachten in Jaci's tree lodge. We hebben 6 game drives gehad en zoveel gezien! Zelfs het luipaard. Maar ook een troep leeuwinnen met welpen, een leeuwin die net een waterbok voor haar welpen had gevangen, wij waren toeschouwer van dit stevige ontbijt! een hyena die het gebied van de leeuwen was binnengetrokken en dit moest betalen een gebroken nek. Een opstijgende gier, echt geweldig!
black rhinno's , het schijnt dat slechts 10% van de bezoekers deze schuwe maar gevaarlijke dieren tegenkomt, wij een aantal keren! vele olifanten en giraffen, zebra's en vele Impala's, Kuddo's, springbokken. Het verblijf was geweldig, super verzorging, heerlijk eten! gastvrij en zeer vriendelijk personeel, prachtige kamers met een kleed van wilde beast wat ik het liefst mee naar huis had genomen! Thomas was onze ranger tijdens alle drives, super gids!

18 January 2013 - For Xmas 2012, made the most wonderful decision to stay at your lodge. Couldnt have asked for more. James took wonderful care of the family and kids. My nickname to him James 'Bond' suits him well for his alertness at the front.
Our ranger, Fortune, made us so much aware of the little things that make the lovely Madikwe Reserve.
Vegetarian food prepared by all the chefs each day was simply wonderful & it was amazing at the variety of options they gave us. Something very sharp of them to know of in a meat loving country!! Thank you all very very much.

18 September 2011 - We stayed with our family at Jaci's for 8 days giving us a lot of time and opportunity to explore the whole park with our guide Paul Slyer. We've enjoyed morning drives, evening drives, day drives and bushwalks. Especially the daydrives gave us a lot of opportunity to witness a lot of animal encounters that were very special. Just meeting them along the way while exploring the park instead of hunting after big five sightings was much more satisfying to us. Also during the drives Paul managed to make the long drives in the car for our daughters a challenging experience by teaching them how to track animals and showing them around the country site. Thanks Paul for these amazing moments.

29 August 2011 - We didn't have time when we left to write in the guest book in our room, so we would just like to say how very much we enjoyed our stay at the Tree Lodge. Every one there looking after us were just wonderful. We were very impressed with the food and the friendliness and warmth of the great service we had. The game drives were great, with a skilled, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide (Yolandi Sutherland) who made every trip fun, stimulating and exciting (particularly when we were charged by trumpeting elephants chasing the pack of wild dogs we had been looking for for some time!). 19 July 2011 - The driver you arranged was fantastic, on time and very friendly. Now the highlight of the trip that to be fair would take four pages or more to do justice. The incredible staff, that went over and above every possible expectation. I have never been treated so well and such an educational experience with “Thomas” our guide for four days. We saw and experienced more then we ever thought possible. When we checked in, they asked about special diet requirements. Well I eat anything, but Gail can not have gluten in her diet. We have learned to live with it, not an issue, she monitors what she eats and brings along some gluten free crackers and other items. That evening and every meal, she was treated with gluten free breads, rolls and special food. Are you serious? You can not get that treatment anywhere, but in the middle of the Madikwe Game Reserve with nothing within 50 miles, but Jaci’s could do it. The events, dinners, settings, entertainment, safari, service, friendliness and staff were the best I have every seen. For anybody wanting to experience a malaria free environment that treats you so special, this is the place. Although it was cold, and I do mean cold, this was the most wonderful experience we have ever had. Thoroughly enjoyed everything about Jaci’sValerie & Martin

19 June 2011 - I had an amazing experience here in Jaci’s Lodge! For once, I felt like I was in the bush!!! Every morning, afternoon and night I had great food! Everyone was so friendly. 19 June 2011 - Jaci’s Lodge has been breathtaking from the beginning to the end. The staff were like a small family welcoming us into their home and helped make our stay unforgettable. The room I shared with the bush babies was lovely, the food (all of it) was absolutely delicious but most of all the people were by far the happiest, nicest and friendliest I have ever met. 18 February 2011 - Wonderful! Wonderful! Wonderful! We stayed for 3 nights and it was FAB! Our guide was called Brett and he was fab! On safari we saw: elephants, lions, springbok, crocodile, giraffes, rhinos, zebras, cudoo, baboons, monkeys, black mamba (most deadliest snake), puffadder and loads more…. One night we had a bbq in the bush, one night we had bbq at the boma and there were employees singing and dancing and one night we had a relaxing dinner! We stayed here for 8 days and each and every day you all made it very memorable for us. 31 October 2010 - Safari lodge was absolutely amazing! The staff have been great especially Abby, Mokha, Isaac and Neil! Our few days here were even better with our guides Johan and David for (1 day) for finding us wild dogs, elephants, lion, buffalo, black and white rhino, honey badger, brown and spotted hyena, giraffe and more…. He even walked off into the bush with a rifle in search for lions. Success!! Thanks again; leaving in 1 hour and so sad. Hope we can come back. P.S. Lunch at the hide is lovelyOllie

25 September 2010 - Being South Africans & having spent time at other big lodges. This long weekend at Jaci’s staying in the Nare Suite, has been a lovely experience 7 worth repeating for sure. The staff, our guide Johan (who was friendly and knowledgeable) was superb. The best experience was having elephants at night outside our bedroom every day, nearly all day – awesome to say the least. One day, 21 at once, was really special experience. We saw 4 of the big 5 (leopard elusive) but really wanted to see wild dogs. We will be back to see them. 17 September 2010 - A colleague and I were privileged to spend a couple of nights at Jaci's. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we found it hard to leave. Everything about our stay was magical, but personal highlights included an al fresco shower under the stars, a supper prepared on an open fire, sleeping in a large, very comfortable bed and the delicious cuisine. We greatly enjoyed our stay at Jaci's. After many months of hoping to see wild dog during various safaris in South Africa, Swaziland and Botswana, we finally were granted an opportunity to see many here at Jaci's (and in quite good proximity!). The entire lodge and the rooms are superbly decorated. I have never seen such beautifully and luxuriously appointed accommodation that blend so nicely and naturally into the serenity and beauty of the bush. In addition, the cuisine was excellent. Thank you for a most memorable weekend - way too short I might add! The folks here are absolutely wonderful. I must also add a big thanks to Willem and Dot Pretorius for without their info and photos we would probably not have made it here - I know the usual story - we're also creatures of habit. The game drives were exactly what was needed to get us back into the system.We got 4 of the 5 - great. But most importantly we got to spend plenty time and got a real close-up of the two female lionesses and her cubs - all of them! As a cat fan - that was good enough, then there was the bonus of the wild dogs. The canoe trip is also worth it if you're looking for that really quiet excursion - no splashing! The staff are wonderful and make you feel a part of the system and allow you the pleasure of experiencing their world and enthusiasm for the tasks at hand. The food, need I say more.........
Conclusion, we will be back! To see the cats and the wild dogs and to experience Jaci's clan once again. Thank you.

We have enjoyed a wonderful few days at the Jaci’s Safari Lodge. Weather a mixture of pretty spectacular storm but plenty of excellent game viewing and time to enjoy the various pools. The plunge pool highlights came on the second day after the adult had spent three hours at dawn seeking elephant. We were all enjoying a morning swim when the was a crashing through the undergrowth and a large male Elephant appeared to visit the water hole. The kid and adult wide- eyed with amazement. Thanks to all staff for looking after us so well. We have definitely eaten too much and exercise too little. We will have to sort it out when we get home. Wow! What an amazing vacation! Jaci Safari Lodge met and exceeded my expectation on many levels. The drives were amazing and our guide (now friend) Olly taught us so much. What great therapy! This felt like a trip to a far place. My kids, first time in a camp like this. Hat adventure it was for them – thank you. They always camp in the garden at home and yet here they had the jitters... i guess they are not yet adrenaline junkies! At least are aware the big 5 are not to mess with otherwise eat you alive. Special thanks go to Neil who became a time family friend after just 24hrs, nothing was too much for him and he went out of his way to ensure that a time here was the best ever. Even to rising to wake us @ 4am for special trip of 6 lions, and the same day or 5pm the other 5 lions. Serving us the wine at dinner until 10pm, and back again next morning at 4:45 am. His energy and drive are outstanding and we will never forget. We learned so much about birds and animals, his knowledge is outstanding, far better listening to Neil than reading the fact from the book, we felt very privileged to have him as our guide. Thank you for your hospitality. It’s a beautiful place. The food is excellent (it’s comparable to French cuisine? ) the staff are very friendly. Bushbucks come near the lodge! But we didn’t see a lot of animals due to the weather conditions. We did see 3 wild dogs! Fantastic! And a white rhino with a calf. I have been planning and dreaming of this trip for 5 years – waiting for the kids to be old enough for us all to appreciate a safari. High expectations have been met. I still cannot believe the excitement of the drives – I had not counted on the emotional side of seeing these animals as they should be.
I was deeply moved by the elephants drinking as the sun went down , by a brief but fabulous glimpse of small leopard – and the terror of hearing lions roar at night 100m from our tent!!!
No one told me about the stars, the sun sets, the cold, the sun…I am so glad we made it here to see this. I will now do my best to persuade family and friends to get here if they can. This has truly been “living in the moment”.

during our tour down to Cape town. We loved the friendly
and professional attitude of all the staff. The food
was great and presented in a very nice manner. Then
the game drives, (Shorty) Neal , you made a great job
in chasing animals. Especially hyenas chased by the lions after the killing was impressive as were the wild dogs just after the kill. Best were the morning drives. We will remember and might return. Our party of 4, parents and 2 adult kids liked it here a lot. Good luck and hope to see you again.

Day 1 : We arrived at 13:00, Had something to eat and was introduced to David, our Guide!. What a wonderful wake – up Guide. Our first game drive was excellent & successful. We saw a pride of Lions killing a warthog (on video) elephants (in total 27) white rhino. Zebra, impala, kudu, giraffe, warthog (at the waterhole at the lodge) Kudu’s drinking from the hole & blue wildebeest!! All this on the first drive! When we cam eback – supper in the boma was waiting! That was mouthwatering! (couscous, veggies, potato bake, chops, warthog kebabs, fresh bread & pudding) Thanks to Stuart – Great Chef! Full day, and the morning is waiting. We enjoy the peace and breeze and the star filled night. Everything out of the books! David – you made our dayDay2 & 3 : Was even better !! Tim and I have had a wonderful time – nearly the entire lodge to ourselves – the game drives have been great fun – relaxing and photo for a lifetime. It’s not every day you sit and have a picnic 50m above and 400m from a water hole, eating ham sandwiches, cheese and an orange with a glass of chardonnay. While elephants stroll to the water to drink, oblivious. We think of our eyes. As we eat and observe. Africa is our tablecloth, stretching as far as the eye can see. As the elephant leave they are replaced by a couple of zebra, just briefly.Sam our driver/ranger/guide/friend has cross swords with Nelson Mandela and John Howard (Aussie PM) Ask him!! Weighty company indeed and company to which I can only aspire. My memory of Madikwe and Jaci’s will be the picnic with the weightiest company I have ever sat down to lunch with. We spend 5 wonderful days here – highlights include the elephants everywhere, the graceful giraffes, and the black mamba! George was an excellent guide and the kids enjoyed the ‘dung spitting contest. One last night for any Catholics visiting Jaci’s – there is a Sunday mass at the small Roman Catholic Church in Molatedi village. It is a wonderful experience – 10:00 am on Sundays, don’t miss it. What a special place filled with special people. 5 star luxury and 5 star treatment- we felt at home and 3 days feels like a week. At first we were surprised that the lodge was so open, but getting up at 5:30 each day and carrying on all day with the wonderful and always changing game drives, Sean’s fantastic meals, suntanning and pool dipping and occasional visit to the gym, soon made us so tired that we forgot all about being worried about snakes, spiders and other creepy-crawlies. We even got used to the resident giant mouse. Great game viewing, lovely staff, beautiful décor and supurb food. Jaci, Jan and Staff –To say we have enjoyed ourselves is easy – between 1. the gracious hospitality shown by all of the staff, 2. the incredible ranger Beukes (a roving ranger – here for a while before he switches packs and then back again), 3. the superb magician of a chef you have added in Sean – he and his staff are amazing. For my experience the chef is the greatest surprise – I expected to see animals but not to have such unique bush recipes mixed with simple dishes made special such as ‘Uncle’s eggs’, ‘Jennie’s pudding’ and ‘Granny’s chicken noodle soup’. Sean and his staff make the difference for me, between great resort and one of the finest, most rewarding in the world.4. Nikko too deserves mention for his jr.safari – great! Truly your staff has such an appreciative attitude that we felt welcome at every moment. We look forward to seeing you in travel magazines in the top ranks. What a magical experience! We had no idea we would see lions, rhino, giraffe and lots of other animals less than 3 feet from us. Sam at Jaci’s Tree Lodge tracked buffalo for us and gave us the breathtaking experience of being charged by an elephant protecting her young. Jondi taught us lots about the bush, stars and animal’s ways. Our time with him and the male lions was awesome. Everyone at both Lodges could not have been more welcoming and friendly. Our first trip to Africa. What an experience! Travelling here is very pleasant. The Lodge is great and the service is outstanding. Compliments to the cook and all the staff, never dreamed to experience such luxury here. We are so blessed to have Peter. Our second guide,(first also very good in the Serengeti). Madikwe is a gem in S Africa. The attitudes of our hosts Deon and Kym and our ranger Peter (good luck in the Kruger) made the stay an enjoyable one. Our first trip we encountered Rhino, our second lion, the third elephants in numbers at the dam. The dinner in the bushes- what an exquisite setting and that is the experience. The cold mornings and cloudless days, the dusty roads, the bumpy trucks gives one an intimate feeling with nature. Perfection is hard to find but Jaci’s has got it in abundance. We have waited so long to do our first safari and we never imagined it would be so wonderful. Everyone here went out of their way to make us welcome and fulfil our every need and more. As for Sam and Jondy they showed us the magnificent animals, birds and gave us that extra bit of magic. We’re going to miss this place but we are taking with us so many wonderful memories. What a time we had… from the minute we arrived to the time (sadly) we had to leave the whole experience was fantastic. The lodge was unbelievably luxurious, unique and what we liked the most, homey and laid back. The Safari experience was brilliant, only surpassed by the brilliance of our guide, Natie. We learnt a lot, not just about the animals but about the bush. And the food… Magnificent. Sean is a magician in the kitchen and has the unique gift to keep both adults and kids happy (and very satisfied). I wanted to give my two daughters a unique experience in South Africa and I certainly found it at Jaci’s lodge. The staff was fabulous and Sam (our ranger) was exceptional. We came here having just hiked the Dolphin Trail from Storms River in the Eastern Cape, thinking that nothing could be better. We were wrong!This place is awesome, our highlights:
• A lioness with 3 very young cubs

The facilities and the food are excellent – the tree lodge concept is clearly a successful one. Sam our ranger was excellent is that he properly tracked the game for us resulting in a close up view of a herd of buffalo – usually very elusive – including a new born baby. Was the 17 hour plane ride and 4 hour drive worth it? A huge yes! We have had many travels and stayed at wonderful places but this is the top of our list! Everyone has been so kind and friendly. Great attention to detail. Joe is so knowledgeable and has made every effort to be sure it is an experience of a lifetime. We’ve seen teenage lion siblings frolicking, a lioness stalking giraffe and certainly the most memorable, a pack of wild dogs in a feeding frenzy. Will our friends ever believe us? For our family, a first safari experience together and it was more than we had expected. The rooms are so peaceful in harmony with the forest. Friends and family said we were crazy to bring a 10 month old baby on safari in Africa. We knew we’d have a fabulous time, and thanks to everybody here, we really did! We will never forget our stay here! Truly friendly staff and services beyond expectation and food that made us eat too much everyday and even wait for the next meal. Here on honeymoon and have had a wonderful stay! Staff were so helpful and friendly especially our excellent guide Joe who made quite a name for himself getting punctures while we on safari. The good news is he is now the quickest wheel changer at Jaci’s .The bath is just fantastic, run just to the right temperature every night after our evening safari and fifteen minutes before dinner! Quite a weird sensation at night listening to all the different noises and thinking what’s out there, is it bigger than me and could I kill it if I had to with a torch and a Mach 3 razor, luckily I am writing this on our last day so I never found out! The only advice we can give you about safety is just remember the most dangerous animal in the park is which ever one has hold of you at the time! This message will self destruct in 10 seconds. Our 40th (Ruby) wedding anniversary visit to South Africa for our special holiday celebration. We have started at Jaci’s Safari Lodge, what a wonderful time we have had – lodge 4 is gorgeous, extremely comfortable and it has a real rustic charm – amazing! Elephants under our veranda have added to our safari and game drive experiences, which we have explored so much. Everything at Jaci’s has been so perfect. Every member of staff has added to our enjoyment, the service, assistance, courtesy, care, pleasantness, and friendly efficiency have been exceptional. We have had such a special time and have been really happy with Pierre and his game drives, where we have seen more animals and birds that seem possible – what a thrill! Last night we left the lodge at 6pm for our first ever night drive complete with a bush braai - what an experience, magical does not begin to cover what all four of us felt. The boys enjoyed cooking for us all. The highlights which we will all treasure the memory of, was to see the three spotted Hyena with tiny month old cubs. We spent almost 1hr with them. So cheeky, brave and inquisitive running right up to the jeep - starring and checking us out the scampering back to mum. We all laughed as they repeated the game again and again. Hey thanks, as we like to say it rocks here! 23 species of mammal in 3 days, many species of birds too. Guides are just absolutely excellent; any problem was sorted out very well and fast. They are extremely knowledgeable and even better they are willing and keen to answer any questions. Food is great, drinks are great, 18 years in the bush and never a single cheetah until I came here, thanks. Tell them if you are looking for an animal and they will find it for you. I must have been to about 50 lodges and never have I had an experience like I did here.

Dear all, after a fantastic adventurous flooding trip through Zimbabwe and Botswana we deserved to have at least a good bed for our last 2 days out here. John D made this a very memorable stay. Finding his ‘trainee ranger’ his first hippo’s was almost as memorable as seeing him balancing on a log over water and running along giving us the thumbs up. His enthusiasm was very infectious. Saw lots of game and birds with highlights being the lions, wild dogs and caracal. John’s gear selection seemed to go to pot when charged by a white rhino. I never thought that rolling in the grass with the ‘Makanyane’ would be so much fun. We took the zebras for dazzling daily walks and the kaleidoscopic encounters we had with the giraffes were awesome. To hand feed the lions and pat their young on the heads was also a truly wonderful experience. We walked the rhinos and taught the monkeys daily new tricks – you must see the great strawberry margaritas they can make!!! We arrived yesterday afternoon after flying in from Germany. How wonderful to in the bush again. It has been raining a lot the last couple of weeks, one can’t tell, and today is no exceptions – raining "cats and dogs". We came to Africa, not knowing about the big five. After three days we’d seen them all, thanks to Sam! We even saw black and white rhino and dead and alive buffalo. My favourite was the warthog and the elephants. The lodge was stunning. Mum said it was the best room she had ever slept in the staff were super friendly and everywhere you go there is such a happy atmosphere. We loved it here at Jaci’s Safari Lodge, the plunge pool and everything was else was brilliant. Our guide was Peter and he was very nice too! We really like it because having the waterhole right next to the balcony was brilliant. We saw all sorts of animals and we had an excellent time here and would love to come back.It was great here and all of the animals were fantastic. Our guide Peter was very nice and Edward (our youngest brother) took a great liking to him. The rooms were comfortable and welcoming , and the plunge pool was great too! During the hot midday sun, it was good to lounge around on the deck chairs and hammock by the pool reading about Africa and its wildlife. The food was very good and the staff were nice and very attentive, I’m sure we’ll come again!

“For most of us this happened to be our first trip to Africa, and certainly the first visit to a game reserve. After a distinctly dodgy aeroplane ride we landed and subsequently were picked up by our ranger Sam in a nice jeep. Although tired we could not turn down the invitation of a game drive the same afternoon. This is where Sam distinguished himself as talent ranger and thoroughly, nice guy with fantastic knowledge interlinked with a great humour. Throughout our short but seemingly endless stay Sam ensured that we were always happy and found the most fantastic game and close sightings. The fact that Sam nearly always went in search using his own tracks and known how and not by simply following others allowed us to experience fully the true feeling and atmosphere of the reserve. We were exceptionally lucky to have Sam as our ranger; we were one of the two jeeps that saw the painted dogs hunting the wildebeest as a pack through the bush- an inspiring sight to stay the least. We saw a herd of buffalo form ten miles away and almost thirty elephants closed up whilst the sun set behind us We only hope that we are lucky enough to see the wonders which Sam found us with such a kind, joking and friendly atmosphere. What a wonderful haven. We have never experienced such warm hospitality and friendship. Our first time to Africa, first time on Safari and what an incredible place and experience. The lodge was superb!! Excellent food, unbelievable service and the attention to detail of a luxury hotel! The animals continued to thrill until the last day. You never knew what was just around the corner of the bush. The suite waterhole gave us a view of elephants twice, giraffe, kudu, warthog and springbok. We have decided to keep coming back until we see an aardvark and pangolin on the same drive. Our 6 days here have been the end and true climax of our month long trip to this wonderful country. I have returned here many times and now I know that my children will too – be prepared Dave, Tristan and Savanah!We have seen wonderful game, birds, and assorted wildlife from beautiful butterflies to a puff adder.
Zede has been wonderful… a great guide, dinner host, protector and new friend to our children – remember always Gracie’s swan dives off the landrover into Zede’s arms.
