Swimming on a hot afternoon

Elephants going to the waterhole
The excitement started right away for the newly arrived guests, when their transfer vehicle could not reach the lodge due to a traffic jam… Madikwe style… A breading herd of elephants were crossing the road towards the waterhole in front of Tree Lodge, and they were not interested in anything, apart from the cool, refreshing water that was awaiting them.
Elephant Swimming
A couple of vehicles from the lodge, went to escort the guests into the lodge, so they could enjoy a refreshing drink, while continuing to watch the Elephants from the comfort of the hide overlooking the waterhole.
All together now
There are few things in life more rewarding than sitting next to the waterhole at Jaci’s when a family of Elephants are having a swim. It is pure joy they get from playing in the water, falling down dramatically, splashing each other with their trunks, or submerging themselves completely, with only the tip of the trunk, sticking out like a giant snorkel. The grand finale is a roll in the thick, dark mud. Experts will tell you it’s to help with the ticks, but I think they do it just for the pure fun of it.
Who needs a spa?
