Nice day for a wild wedding
14 November 2011
The wonderful thing about getting married in South Africa is having the luxury of choosing a wildlife location like Jaci’s Lodges for your special occasion.
Not only does a bush wedding make for a unique setting, it also affords overseas guests an opportunity to experience the bushveld and allows for stunning photographic opportunities.
Couples keen to have their wedding at Jaci’s are encouraged to visit Jaci’s Lodges for a few nights with family and friends well ahead of the time to get a feel for the environment and to discuss the many options available. Alternatively the bride and a bridesmaid might prefer to spend a day at Jaci’s.
Having hosted numerous weddings of various sizes, we’re familiar with all the essential ingredients necessary to make the occasion a memorable one.
We offer a variety of venues and reception areas determined by the size of your wedding group including the main lodges, bomas, swimming pools, river site, the suites, the hide and the ultimate favourite – Fig Tree – just a five-minute drive from the lodges. However, other venues within Madikwe may also be considered.
Although the itinerary is at the discretion of the bridal couple, an afternoon wedding usually works best, followed by celebratory drinks at a different location for the guests, while the bridal couple has some time to soak up the moment and enjoy golden-light photographs. Dinner and dancing follows long into the night…
The swimming pool venues are an ideal location for the bridal reception area.
To add a bit more of an African flavour, traditional dancers can be specially arranged at an additional cost.
The food is an important consideration, and in our experience a formal four-course meal is the most successful option, but buffet and bush dinners are equally popular. Our head chefs confer to prepare a menu to suit your individual taste, with special dietary requirements taken into consideration. Menus need to be pre-approved by the bridal couple ahead of the event.
The design of a wedding cake is a personal choice, so we’ve chosen to opt out and leave it to the bride to organise her own cake which we’re happy to keep in storage.
Although Jaci’s has a wide selection of beverages available, wine and champagne should be selected before the time to ensure that sufficient stock is on hand.
We’re more than happy to assist with additional requirements such as photographers, flowers, covered chairs, DJ, red carpet and even a minister if you need one, but individual charges are levied for each service.
Whether it’s an intimate champagne breakfast wedding with your immediate family or an event for 60 under the stars including game drives, Jaci’s is on hand to ensure that the official start of your new life together will be an all-round unforgettable occasion.
